Summer Fun

I thought I had already posted pictures from the Salt Lake Bees game we went to, but I guess I forgot. We went a few weeks ago with our friend from Snow College Bryce and his wife. Jeff and I enjoy going to the Bees games, especially on the Harmon's Family nights where tickets are only $3 a person!!! This night was really cold and rainy (hence my flat hair) but we still had lots of fun and are looking forward to another game soon.

Bryce and his wife bought some blue cotton candy and this is what everyone's mouths looked like afterwards. It was hard to take anyone serious when they looked like this. The best part was a little 5 year old boy turning to Jeff and laughing at his blue mouth and Jeff had no idea that he looked like this!!

This weekend we went to the West Jordan Demolition derby. It was a lot better than the Bluffdale Derby because the drivers were much more aggressive. Throughout the night I think 4 or 5 cars ended up getting flipped over, which was scary but cool.

This is the car that I thought would be the winner because he did so well earlier....guess he's out now!

Another car that got flipped over
Shannon also performed at WestFest in West Valley. She did great!!

Happy Birthday and Goodbye to the Jeep

Last night we were able to sell my Jeep. I am bittersweet about selling it because it was the first car I ever bought and it was really good in the snow, but it had lots of little problems that I was tired of dealing with and spending money on. We are now on the search for either an SUV or truck to replace it. You don't realize how nice it is to have 2 cars until you only have 1. Hopefully we will be able to find a good deal on a new one soon.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
I turned 24 this past week and enjoyed getting together with our family at Donkey Park to celebrate along with Father's Day. Jeff took me to California Pizza Kitchen for my birthday dinner so that I could get my favorite pizza (California Club) and we went to Leatherby's for some ice cream.

My birthday cake

This year I chose to have a carrot cake from Costco...YUM!!
In other news, Jeff has been working lots of overtime at work and I have been trying to finish up decorating our new place with my mom's help. Last weekend we went to the Bluffdale Demolition Derby and had a lot of fun. We also watched fireworks at South Jordan Days. In store for this weekend is the Riverton Rodeo on Friday and then the West Jordan Demo Derby. We have really enjoyed going to the 'smash up' derbys because it is prime people watching....we love counting all the mullets!!! We are also hoping to go to Hatch for the 4th of July weekend.
This wednesday is the Backstreet Boys concert. I got tickets for my birthday and will be going with my mom and shannon. It will be interesting to compare this concert to back in the day when they were popular. A lot of girls my age are going and re-living our teen years!
Also the new twilight movie, Eclipse is coming out next wednesday and of course Shannnon got tickets for all the girls to go see it. I am still trying to get through the final book in the series..it is quite long!

Goodbye Flagstaff...Hello Utah

This past weekend (memorial) my Family and Grandma Evans drove down to Flagstaff to help Jeff and I move home. We are so thankful for their help and time!!! We couldn't have done it alone!
While they were here, we were able to go to Sedona and spend the day.
At the Oak Creek Canyon lookout

It's crazy to think that next year at this time I will have my Doctorate in Physical Therapy!!!
I can't wait to finally be finished with my schooling.

On our way home we had breakfast at the Cowboy's smokehouse in Panguitch and Jeff got some HUGE pancakes that were an inch thick and larger than his face!!!

AFTER:

Shan had a talent competition that she tried out for yesterday. I thought she looked really cute!

Tommorrow we are unloading the trailer and moving our stuff into our new apartment in Herriman. We are excited to have a brand new apartment and I am looking forward to having a new place to decorate!! We are also going to have a "new start" because Jeff and I are going to do the "South Beach Diet". It will be a challange for us since all we eat are unhealthy foods (cause thats what we can afford), but we both need to loose some weight and I figured what a better time than now. We dont have any food in our apartment anyway so I will only buy things that are on the Phase 1 of this diet. (We are starting it on Sat. and phase one lasts 2 weeks and pretty much you can only eat lettuce and eggs) I also plan on walking every morning now that we live in a neighboorhood area that I feel safe to walk in.

In other good news Jeff was able to find a temp job working at Salt Lake Cabinets in West Jordan. It was a little sooner than we thought but we are greatful for the income! Hopefully he can impress the supervisor so that this job can become a permenant one because it has great benefits!

Lake Powell

This past weekend Jeff and I went camping at Lake Powell with our good friends (Lundquists, Allreds, and McCorristins) that I have meet at school. We were only able to stay one night because of Jeff having to go back to work, but we had a lot of fun with everyone. We camped at the Wahweap campground which was nice because we were able to fit everyone on one camp site.

Sunday we went with Jared, Amanda, and Hayden Lundquist to Glen Canyon Dam and took a tour. One interesting fact that I learned was that the amount of cement in the Dam's wall is equivalent to a 4 lane highway from Phoenix to Chicago!! Later that afternoon we relaxed and had smores around the fire once the rest of our friends had arrived.

Monday the weather was beautiful! It was in the 80's and NOT windy (which is rare for Powell) but later in the afternoon the winds picked up a little. We all decided to go to the Lone Rock beach and play in the water and sand for a while.

I got through all of my finals and ended up with all A's and 1 B, so I was pleased. My cumulative gpa in grad school is a 3.7!!! Grad school has been a whole new ball game for me and I was happy to get good grades. Also I passed the Cumulative PT school test, which was another relief. This last week I started my summer classes. I took a business course which was interesting because we learned the in's and out's of starting our own practice. On Friday and Sat. I took an acute care class which was also very helpful. This next Fri and Sat will be my final summer class!!! It is a spine course which I have heard is beneficial, but it will be nice to finally be done with the "class work" part of my education.

I also got my final internship in Utah after going through a thousand hoops with many clinics, but I will be going to an IHC clinic in Saratoga Springs!!

We are looking forward to moving back to Utah in 2 weeks. We have been packing a little each week and hoping that everything works out with our new place in Herriman. My family is coming next Thursday to help us move and do a little site seeing (Grand canyon, Sedona, Flagstaff). I am excited to have them see where we have been living the last 2 years!

2010 Summer Unity Tour

Summer Unity tour this year included the Offspring, 311 of course and Pepper(a band from Hawaii and a new fav of mine). A few weeks ago smiths tix had a deal where you could get tickets for $10 each for 3 hours only and luckily I was able to get 2. Jeff and I had wanted to go ever since the tour was announced but we really didn't want to pay $50 a ticket so I was glad to find a good deal!

A much needed update

I figured since it had been so long since I have written a new post I will go month by month and catch up! School has been incredibly busy and therefore things like this take a HUGE back seat unless I am trying to avoid studying (like now) hahaha. MARCH:
- March in Flagstaff was still filled with snow and lots of it, but at least it kept the Ski Resort (Snowbowl) here in Flagstaff busy. Since Jeff works in the rental shop he gets a free season pass and can also get VIP passes a few times a month, so I was lucky enough to take advantage of free snowboarding a few times this month.

-We went to Utah for my spring break and for Jeff's birthday. We had a busy busy trip trying to look for apartments, jobs, and see all of our family during the week. Needless to say, we were in high demand. Here are some pics from Jeff's 3 birthday parties, talk about spoiled :) He had his real b-day lunch at his favorite pizza place the Pie in South Jordan, then we had a surprise party at his parents house. His parents told him that they decided to take him to dinner at Golden Corral (not one of his favs) so he was pretty sad, but then we started driving towards Texas Roadhouse and he figured it out and was super happy to get his steak and rolls! Then Friday my family and grandparents all came to my parents house and had another party with lots of good food.

-Besides snowboarding and Utah, all I did was go to school everyday and Jeff worked when he had some.

APRIL:
-We started the month with Easter/Conference weekend. We were bummed that Conference was not on TV this year so we had to listen to it over the internet, which made it much harder to concentrate! We also decided to dye some eggs for fun since we are poor right now.

-Jeff finished working at the Snowbowl because their season is over :( We were able to go snowboarding last friday because Jeff didnt have work and I was out of school for the day. It was 60 degrees up there and awesome. Towards the afternoon the snow got really slushy so we decided to call it a day. Last weekend was supposed to be the Snowbowl's last weekend, but they decided to re-open this weekend too! I am hoping to be able to get one last day in cause its so much fun!!

This guy was a crazy!! He was playing the sax while skiing down the run, but he could only play one note!
-I am overwhelmed right now with school. Since this is my last academic semester in school the teachers seem to think we have nothing else to do besides homework, poster presentations, and case studies on top of studying for tests especially our comprehensive which will cover the last 2 years of classes!! Almost every single day the teachers give us busy work assignments or big projects and I am getting frustrated with it all. This semester I was also able to treat a lady with a Traumatic Brain Injury in our neuro clinic. It was a great experience and fun but once again just another thing to do. Also something cool is that my name is going to be published on the Arizona Falls website because I am working on a research project looking at the prevelence of Balance screening of elderly in Assisted living centers in AZ.

-Another stresser right now is trying to get my internships lined up for next year. I wanted to get all of them in Utah so that we can move home and settle in there, but pretty much it has been a disaster. The first 3 internships are set and my last one has been a challenge because 5 places have decided last minute that they dont want students or already have them from the U. Our choices are due tommorrow and I am just praying that I get my last one in Utah.

-We are getting ready to move home and are sooooo excited!! We are planning to move during Memorial weekend when my parents come down. I am excited for them to be able to come see the fun places that we have been able to discover here in Flagstaff.

Anyway, I will try to keep up with posting but probably not til after finals (1st week in May)
