Deer Creek and The Ataris Concert

It's nice to be back in Utah where we get to celebrate the 24th of July! This year Jeff didn't have to work on Friday or Saturday so my family decided to go boating at Deer Creek. It was perfect weather and filled with lots of tubing and swimming.

Last night Jeff and I went to see the Ataris at Kilby Court. We had never been to this venue and we expected it to be a little bigger than it was, but it ended up being an awesome show. (FYI Kilby is pretty much a garage in a ghetto ally in SLC). We were excited to see the Ataris because we grew up with their music during high school and during our Snow College years. We were able to be right next to the band because of how small this place was so it was sweet!

There were actually 4 bands before the Ataris went on but this was my favorite guy, Gasoline Heart. He played a few songs with the Ataris as well.

Jeff even got to meet Kris Roe(the singer of the Ataris) and take a pic. The singer was selling the band merch himself which was crazy.

They played a lot of songs off of "So Long, Astoria" and "Blue Skies, Broken Hearts..." and they even played a song we had on our wedding video, "Won't spend another night alone". Another funny thing is how old and different the singer looked....back in the day he had long blonde hair and didn't wear glasses so it took us awhile to recognize him.

2010 Summer Unity Tour

This year's Summer Unity Tour included 311 of course, Offspring and Pepper (a band from Hawaii and my new fav). I was lucky enough to get our tickets for $10 each because Smithtix had a 3 hour special one day. As soon as we heard about this lineup Jeff and I wanted to go, but tickets were $50 and that was for lawn seats!! Our seats ended up being great and the weather was perfect too!

THE OFFSPRING:

Jeff and I were really excited to see them since they don't tour much anymore. They were definitly our favorite band to see and played all their hits and some new songs as well. Unfortunatly they didn't play too long and on their last song, the microphones went out so everyone just sang!

311 (the headliner) was also really good and energetic. We didn't get too many good pics of them because it was so dark.

4th of July and other happenings

For the 4th of July we were able to make a quick trip to the cabin in Hatch. It was a happining place with Grandma and Grandpa Pearson, Dave & Cher and kids, and my family all stuffed into 2 cabins. We went to Panguitch to watch fireworks at the rodeo grounds on the 3rd and then went to Ruby's Inn at Bryce Canyon on the 4th. Jeff and I both decided that out of all of the fireworks we have seen this year that the Ruby's are the BEST because it is so dark out there!





While in Hatch we had fun riding 4-wheelers around.

We also hit up another demolition derby in Riverton and were dissapointed this year. Not one of our favorites. We also decided that the West Jordan Derby is the BEST because the winner gets $5,000 so the drivers are really aggressive and its more enjoyable to watch.

This weekend was Draper Days (a favorite tradition of mine growning up). Jeff had to work on Saturday morning so we couldn't go to the parade, but we were able to go to an AMAZING concert on Friday night. Collin Raye was the headliner and put on a great show (Jeff, although I had to drag him there because it was 'country' music, ended up really liking him). The openers- Savannah Jack who were from Nashville were really talented as well.

It was such a hot night- 90 degrees at 8 pm!!

In other good news....

We got a truck!!! We bought it off KSL and got a pretty good deal. Its a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 (sport edition) which means: leather, good sound system, 4 wheel drive, 20 inch rims(which we are learning that tires are $$$$ for that size...not so excited about this). We still have a few dings and things to fix but hey its a used vehicle.

Jeff is in heaven and has been driving the truck everywhere!!!
