Dew Tour in SLC

Last year we had so much fun at the Dew Tour that we decided we would go again, but we agreed that if we went we would pay for the upgraded seats to avoid standing in line all day. Much to our luck (well, Jeff's luck) we scored some free tickets to the Dew Tour and Blink 182 concert for free from X-96.

Adventures at Lake Powell 2011

We just got home from another Lake Powell adventure full of memories. We haven't been to Lake Powell for our annual visit so we were really looking forward to going this year. My parent's next door neighboors rented a houseboat and invited us to go as well. The pictures are a little out of order, but oh well.

We started out the trip by towing the wave runners so my dad could tow his boat. The first night we got to Bullfrog around 11pm so we slept in the bed of our truck in the parking lot until morning when we could load the houseboat. Once the houseboat was loaded and after waiting 5 hours in the heat, we headed out in search of a beach to park the houseboat on. By the time the houseboat met up with the rest of us at our spot, the sun was quickly setting. Well that night a bunch of raccoon-like animals decided to take over the boat and raid everything, so the next morning we moved the houseboat to another spot, but this time we ended up tying off the boat in between the entrance to a small canyon(which was not a smart idea with the Lake Powell winds).

This lead to our next night's adventure when the wind quickly picked up just as the sun was setting and all of a sudden the houseboat lost anchor and began heading quickly into a rocky shore with boats attached around the houseboat. Everyone quickly dropped everything and tried to protect the boats from getting thrashed around in the wind. Luckily, there wasn't much damage. Later the next day we ended up spending about 3 hours at the poop pump out station(not to mention it was the middle of the day and so hot, but no one wanted to jump in the surrounding water to cool down). Nobody on the houseboat could find the attachment piece to pump properly until hours later and then the men had to manually pump it out.

We had a fun few days and enjoyed seeing the sun and spending time with friends and family.

Our visit to the Zoo

This year for Jeff's summer work party they held it at Hogle Zoo. Both Jeff and I hadn't been to the zoo for years so we were excited to go and see all of the changes they have made since we were younger.
As a kid we always remembered sticking our heads out of the praire dog holes for a picture.
These little guys were out cold sleeping on their backs and reminded me of how our cats sleep in the summer.

Another memory we both had was drinking out of the lion's head drinking fountain, although it seems like they didn't have too many of them left at the Zoo.

Jeff's face was classic in this picture because as he was posing, a huge spray of water came out and gave him a good scare.

We are homeowners!!!

Thats right! We have officially purchased and are now living in our first home as of mid July. We were excited to find a home that met our wants and needs as well as being just across the street from our old apartment in Herriman. We have always wanted to live in this area and didn't ever think we would be able to afford a home in the neighborhood across the steet. The house we purchased didn't even have a "for sale" sign up and was but wasn't on the market.....everything seemed to fall into place and we are greatful for our prayers being answered. Even though it is just across the street from our old place, we now live in South Jordan but will eventually be surrounded by the Daybreak community.

We were greatful for our families help in moving and cleaning and hope we can stay put for awhile now! We love our new ward and are excited to meet more people.

4th of July

HAPPY 4th of JULY!!!

We had a busy and fun 4th of July weekend this year. We began with attending the Riverton parade Friday night with Amanda's family. Saturday morning we watched Sterling in Riverton's ATV rodeo.

We then went boating with my parents to Rockport to enjoy some sun. It was nice and relaxing although the water was only 5o degrees!

Jeff braved the cold water and enjoyed some tubing.

Then we drove to Oakley to attend their famous "4th of July Rodeo". It was really good and fun to watch. Here are some of the livestock.

Then on Monday the 4th we attended the events at Sandy days beginning with Shannon singing a few songs on the main stage, walking around booths, parade, and fireworks to top off the night.

In other good news, we put in an offer on a house across the street from us and have been approved to close on the house on the 18th of July (2 weeks!) It is a little earlier than planned, but it is too good of a deal to pass up. Hopefully we will have great news and a new home soon!

Happy 25th Birthday

We celebrated my 25th birthday by eating dinner at the Pie Pizzaria on my actual birthday night and then had a combined fathers day/b-day party at our apartment the following weekend. We originally intended to have a BBQ at a park, although the weather decided to be rainy and 55 degrees that day, which was rare for June in Utah! I had yummy chocolate cake from Costco and mint ice cream!

For my birthday I got lots of clothes, a new life jacket, and tickets to Rascal Flatts concert this fall!
One of our new favorite traditions in the summer is going to Demolition Derbys. We attended the Bluffdale Derby (which I didn't take any pictures at) and the West Jordan Derby (which is the best one!) This year a few cars got pushed up onto the barricades and one car even started on fire!
