Baby update

Baby girl update
(I haven't taken any pictures this pregnancy, but I decided I better take one before the baby is born...31 weeks)

This pregnancy has been full up ups and downs. To begin with this pregnancy was nothing short of a miracle. We had been trying for months and months with the help of IUI's and lots of medication to try for another child. I figured it would be much easier this time around since my body already knew what pregnancy was like and we had discovered the combination of medications to have a successful pregnancy. Boy was I wrong! I am still in awe of how I even was able to become pregnant again and especially on our own.

I have been terrible about updating as life has been quite busy with being down to 3 PT's at work and working 10-12 hour days while being sick. Jeff has stepped up to become the mom around the house taking care of Aubrie and meals.

This pregnancy I have been sick up until the beginning of the 3rd trimester. I am so over feeling like I have the flu constantly. On top of this, I was lucky enough to catch a cold and terrible cough that lasted from Christmas to April and now I am left with pleurisy in my R lung. Another fun symptom I have experienced both with this pregnancy and with Aubrie was right shoulder pain....biceps tendonitis. I even did therapy because I was in so much pain and couldn't sleep.

After my first ultrasound at the doctor's office, I was diagnosed with complete placenta previa. I had never heard of this and wasn't sure what it meant. Basically the placenta is in the wrong spot and blocking the cervix, making a regular delivery impossible. I wasn't too concerned with this as I knew I was already going to have a C-section again, but what I didn't know is the bed rest that accompanies this condition. My doctor initially told me to cut back at work to 8 hours, but I was still having contractions. He then suggested at 7 months that I quit working. I was in shock as I never expected this. I ended up working 4 hours a day and spending the rest of the day in bed.  At the end of April I made a trip to labor and delivery due to very painful contractions. After 2 bags of IV fluids and being monitored for hours, I was told I was dehydrated and also had an irritable uterus which means my uterus is constantly contracting with any movement I do. This is a problem due to the placenta previa because with contractions it will cause dilation and potentially a hemorrhage and pre-term labor.

Despite all the difficulties I have been through this pregnancy, I am so thankful to have a healthy and active little girl waiting to join our family. I keep getting the strongest feeling that I know this little girl was meant to be in our family and she is being so strong to hold in there and grow stronger.

We have been trying to prepare Aubrie for a new baby by talking about her baby sister and what babies do. She has been really excited and tells us her baby sister's name is Brynnley. She tells us that she will help feed a bottle and give the baby a binkie and toys. I hope they will be great friends!

My delivery date has been changed from July 1st to the week of my birthday (if we can make it to 38 weeks). My goal is to at least get to 34 weeks and ideally 36 for the sake of the baby. We have partially decided on a name for this sweet baby. Jeff likes the name Brynnley and I like Maddison, so we will probably end up with Brynnley Maddison for her name...but I am still deciding on the spelling.
