Aubrie starts Kindergarten

Aubrie started Kindergarten at the end of August. She is attending Silvercrest Elementary in Herriman for PM kindergarten and her teacher is Ms. Bowen. Aubrie was unable to attend Bastian Elementary which is a brand new school by our house because the daycare doesn't take kids there.

Aubrie was so excited to start Kindergarten! I was so happy to be able to see her off to school on her first day. She loves school, learning, and making friends. 

Aubrie got to ride the daycare van to school while I followed behind. She loves riding the bus to school!

Aubrie's friend Maddie from Lotsa Tots started Kindergarten too.

Backstreet Boys Concert

In August I took my first Girls Trip to Las Vegas to see the Backstreet Boys at Planet Hollywood.
I went with Alex, one of the PT's I work with and some other co-workers at RPT. It was so fun and we had great seats in the Zappos Theater. It was awesome to hear all their old songs again and we were all so giddy! As soon as the concert ended I told everyone...lets see them again tomorrow!

  

August Memories

Bluffdale Town Days was in August this year and was full of fun for the kids. 

Monday night was Fun in the Foam:

Monday night was also Princess craft and game night

Friday night we had fun with everyone watching the Monster Truck show! 

Saturday morning the girls got to ride with Papa in the firetruck and throw candy in the Parade.

Saturday night ended with a concert at the park with Diamond Rio and Fireworks!

At the end of August we were able to see Jack Johnson at Usana and enjoyed the end of Summer.

My Mom, Dad, and I stayed up late into the night to see Jimmy come home from his LDS mission. He served in the Armenia Georgia mission with one of the most difficult languages to learn. 

We celebrated Papa P's birthday along with Jimmy's homecoming. It has been fun to spend more time with Grandpa as he has been coming once a week to PT to work on his knee pain and weakness and poor balance. He has been falling a lot at home and has done well with getting more strength!

July cancer update

I had another CT scan (as I do every 3 months) of my abdomen and pelvis on June 29th and follow up appointment with Dr. Werner and Ester (PA) a few days later. 

I was shown my CT results from this visit in comparison to before starting Palbocicib the oral chemo medication.

The scan results were great and we started to see some shrinking of my tumors!

 Results:  

 A soft tissue density nodule in the retroperitoneum adjacent to the right psoas muscle has decreased in size now a maximum axial diameter of 1.5 cm, decreased from 1.8 cm on the previous examination. Peritoneal or omental implants in the upper abdomen have also decreased in size. The largest, seen just inferior to the gallbladder now measures 1.7 cm in greatest axial diameter, decreased from 2 cm on the previous study. When looking a my CT scans, there are a few tumors that aren't being looked at due to how small they are now. The vaginal cuff tumor was measured as 24 mm x 21 mm now compared to previous scan. Dr. Zempolich states that she is unable to feel this tumor as easily now during my exams. 

I haven't been feeling the best over the last few months, lots of fatigue and foggy brain. I have always been somewhat anemic before cancer, but was feeling worse and this time I had my Ferritin levels checked which were very low. I started receiving iron transfusions every Friday in August for 5 weeks with each treatment being about 1 hr. It took a few weeks to notice a change, but wow, I didn't realize just how exhausted I was and started to have some energy again! 

I also started to get a shot every 6 months called Prolia. It is a medication that is given to strengthen my bones since the chemo medication depletes my bone strength. Luckily I haven't noticed any side effects.
