Back to School

August 21 2019
1st grade Mrs Bruce
Bastian Elementary

Aubrie was most excited for 1st grade because she gets to eat lunch in the cafeteria and go to school ALL day!

Brynnley started Pre-School at Lotsa Tots with her teacher Ms. Sheena and Ms. Autumn. Brynnley was so excited to start pre-school so she can catch up to Aubrie and start reading. Brynnley has started doing the Upstart program daily that helped Aubrie learn to read and Brynn loves to do her "homework" practicing writing her name and letters. Brynnley is able to write the letter B at this time and is working on the rest of her name.

Backstreets Back Alright!!!

When I heard that Backstreet Boys were going to go on a US Tour I bought tickets the day they went on sale in November 2018.  I previously saw them in Las Vegas a year ago and enjoyed re-living some of my favorite songs and was so excited they were coming to Utah. On August 6th, Shannon, my Mom and I attended their DNA tour at Vivint Arena (Delta Center). It was such a great show and we had good seats at 7th row up from the floor. The tickets were quite pricey but sooooo worth it. I was amazed at how good their concert was, especially since they are a lot older and all have kids, they could still sing and dance like it was still the 2000's! They are just as good as they were 26 years ago!

July Cancer Update

As of July I continue to battle daily with the side effects of cancer medications and still recovering from surgery this April. I struggle daily with chemo brain (hard to recall words and details), joint pain, fatigue and trying to adjust to a "new normal". I am currently waiting until I get approved to start a new chemotherapy injection called Faslodex and have stopped Letrozole (and have had much less knee, ankle, joint pain) but have continued Palbo. It took me quite a while to return to my exercise classes at the gym since I still struggled with fatigue and difficulty lifting much. I was really nervous when I finally returned this month but had slowly been doing the bike and lighter weights to prepare. I forgot how wonderful it feels to get a good workout in, despite it being exhausting and have continued to re-focus on clean eating and even started started taking CBD fluid.

July Fun

July started off with lots of sports for both Aubrie and Brynnley.
This was Brynnley's first year playing soccer in the 3-4 yr old rec group.
She enjoyed kicking the ball around as well as running along all the kids during the game. I think she also enjoyed sitting in the grass and making 'bird nests' while on the sidelines :)

Aubrie was busy with playing soccer and making lots of goals! She even scored 6 goals for her team during 1 game. She is very competitive and always paying attention to the ball and is learning the rules of soccer.

Aubrie also played baseball this year and had 2 home runs in 1 game! She has a really good arm and throws quite a ways with good aim.

The girls enjoyed a day at the Zoo with Grandma and Grandpa Evans before school started again.

This year we had planned to go to the Cabin for the 4th of July but had some last minute changes and ended up going to Payson Lakes for some fishing and were lucky to have Grandma and Papa P come up for a day to celebrate.
We did get to enjoy a parade in July at Draper Days.

Happy 4th of July

For the 4th of July we had originally planned to go to the cabin but plans changed and I was able to get 2 nights at Payson Lakes. We enjoyed going up and enjoying the quite and peacefulness of the campground and lake. On the 4th my parents brought Grandma and Grandpa P up for the day. This was the first big outing they have had in the past 2 years. Grandpa's health isn't so great anymore and he has a hard time getting around without a cane or walker and is falling all the time. I think it was a fun time for him to get out of the house and enjoy some sun and picnic in the mountains for the day.
