Welcome Brynnley Madison Bath

Brynnley's Birth Story:

In the early hours of Friday June 12th, I woke up to use the bathroom and quickly realized that I was bleeding severely. I woke up Jeff and told him it was time to go for fear of hemorrhaging due to the placenta previa. We called my parents to come watch Aubrie at 2 AM while we left for the hospital. We rushed to Riverton Hospital Labor and Delivery and waited what seemed like forever for the on call doctor to come for my C-section. Due to the bleeding and the fact that I was 37 weeks along, the nurses said I would definitely be into surgery ASAP. Well come to find out the on call doctor was at a delivery at Jordan Valley, so Dr. Quinn, my Ob/gyn was called to come from home. Looking back I am so thankful for the circumstances and that Dr. Quinn was able to deliver Brynnley as he was very thorough and was able to notice the abnormal ovaries.

Jeff suited up for the surgery room and met me after I received my epidural.  At 7:40 AM Brynnley Madison Bath arrived healthy. I was concerned because I didn't hear her cry for what seemed like eternity. I later found out she had swallowed meconium and had to be suctioned.  She was a healthy girl at 6lbs 5 oz  and 18 in long with a light layer of dark blonde hair.

As we were enjoying the birth and excitement of a new baby, I heard Dr. Quinn saying, " these ovaries don't look good, I am going to remove the left one". Panic shot through me as I heard these words and sat helpless on the operating table. Dr. Quinn took a biopsy of my right ovary and immediately sent both to pathology.

I was wheeled into the recovery room and was able to let Aubrie meet her baby sister that she had been looking forward to having. We spent time with family getting to know Brynnley. A few hours later, Dr. Quinn came in our room and asked to speak to just Jeff and I. I thought, "oh no, this can't be a good thing." We received the news that my pathology was positive for Ovarian Cancer in both the left and right ovaries and diagnosed it as "serous papillary carcinoma". He gave us a list of a few gynecologic oncologist to follow up with. Shock set in and the tears came...how could this day be filled with such joy as we had our miracle baby and then be given the worst news? I wasn't able to comprehend the news fully until I got home from the hospital 5 days later. While at the hospital I tried to stay focused on getting to know Brynnley and enjoy having my two miracle girls.

Brynnley has been a miracle baby since she was conceived. We had attempted to get pregnant via multiple IUIs and was just about ready to take out a loan for IVF when I found out I was expecting. I woke up in October and had been feeling really nauseated and thought it was due to my recent flu shot and decided what the heck I will take a pregnancy test. At 4 AM I took one and to my shock got a postitive! I woke up Jeff and said... " umm Jeff, I'm pregnant!" The pregnancy was a rough one with morning sickness, placenta previa, irritable uterus, and constant contractions placing me on bed rest from April to June. I also had 2 visits to labor and delivery with false pre-labor. Looking back, I see the Lord's timing and how this little girl was sent to save my life. If I had not had the complications I did and required a C-section with Dr. Quinn we could have been too late in discovering my cancer.

The start of summer

The month of May was filled with weekly hospital visits for me for pre-term labor/UTI/dehydration. I was also started on medication called Terbutiline to stop my contractions. I have been taking this medication every 6 hours for contractions for about 3 weeks until my last visit on June 1st. I also had a UTI which was terrible pelvic pain that made the contractions even worse, but thank goodness for antibiotics. At my appointment in the last week in May, I was told by my Dr. that I need to stop working to prevent complications and to continue bed rest. This has been very difficult for me both financially and mentally as I have had to take Aubrie out of daycare to save money as well as practically do nothing at home (which has been tourture because I just think of all the projects and organizing that I could be doing) and paying over $1000/month for insurance. It also is difficult because I am having to start my maternity leave early without a baby, which means I will have to return to work sooner. As of my last doctor's appointment on the 1st, I am still planning on my C-section date of June 18th unless any complications or bleeding occur.

Due to my high pregnancy risk, we were unable to go to Hatch for Memorial weekend because of how far away from a hospital is was. My parents were kind enough to change our trip from Hatch to Park City for a few days. We stayed in the Marriott and spent each day fishing at a different lake in the rain.
Lots of babies to feed at Daybreak Lake.
Last day of Swimmy lessons! Aubs has learned to jump off the side of the pool, kick, float on her back, and walk along the wall as well as going under the water.
Since I am now home all day and can't do a lot, Aubrie has spent lots of time playing outside and in the sprinklers. I had to laugh as she was playing in the water and she yelled, "best day everrrr".

On June 3rd, we were coming home from me getting IV fluids and pulled into the garage and heard a crack. We lost 1/3rd of our big tree in the front yard from a huge wind storm. Luckily nobody was around when it happened.
Having fun with Aunt Shannon(who was Bluffdale city's first attendant) and Stevie during Bluffdale Rodeo.
We made a visit to the Payson Temple for the open house. Even through I was technically supposed to be on bed rest, I was able to make it through the temple. Jeff had a big part in helping to build all the woodwork for the temple, he specifically did the baptism font, brides room, and sealing rooms.
